Independents' Day?

Our General Election model is fully underway now, and on our election page you can track how each party has been doing, and the odds of each individual seat.

​In our last article, we saw that the number of independent candidates could be as high as 6. This would be extraordinary; British politics is very difficult for independent candidates - there was only one elected in each of the last 4 General Elections. In this article we'll look through the seats where the independents have a chance of winning.

The TGIAF 2019 General Election Model

With a new General Election on the way, we have been freshening up our model for the new campaign. With only half of the seats initially available, we could only provide tentative early predictions. 

We followed this up be previewing Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland, as all the data was available for these. Now, finally, we have a full model to unveil!

Last time we ran through the seats in Northern Ireland to kick off our General Election coverage. We still can't do the whole country as we only have data on 398 seats. However, like Northern Ireland, all 40 Welsh constituencies are covered, so we can delve into those.​

2019 General Election - Northern Ireland

Yesterday, we unveiled TGIAF's 2019 General Election model. We only have roughly half the seats available at the moment, we could only compare those seats to see where the parties stand, and use those to create a tentative prediction for the country overall.

However, all the missing seats are in England. So our next few articles will look at Northern Ireland, Wales and Scotland to see how those battles are shaping up.

Apparently, we now have General Elections every two years. The frequency of these things means that I never have the time to update our model. However, I am currently off work following recent parenthood, so I do have a chance to at least see how everything in shaping up.
